Baby’s First Glossybox
“That’s a really bad presentation”, said my sister of my cosmetics arranging abilities.
ALL RIGHT. So this is my first Glossybox and I wanted to say right off the bat that it is fabulous that they’re based in NYC because I got this box the day it shipped. I came home from school on Wednesday to find it sitting all pretty (even the cardboard box is cute wtf I love that) on my dining room table.
The October box (they ship their monthly boxes at the end of each month) was spa themed. The packaging is really really nice and I love that they pay a close attention to detail. Also this may sound weird but the actual box is really nice quality so I’m definitley holding on to it for extra storage.
Moving on to the products…I haven’t tried any of these yet but I wasn’t excited about most of them which is a bummer. I suppose I’ll show the two I’m giving to my sister and mom first.
This is a lipstick/lipgloss duo from ModelCo. The lipstick is in the shade Dusk and the gloss is named Striptease (perhaps they named it after the theatrical masterpiece that Demi Moore starred in?) I hate lipgloss and this color just will not suit my skintone so I automatically offered this to my mom like the wonderful daughter I am (“Hey mom, do you want my sloppy seconds?”) Pigmentation on the lipstick was great though and it seemed relatively moisturizing. I also would like to point out that the packaging for this was pretty cool; it was dual-ended and it even had a little mirror on it.
This is a Senna eyeshadow trio in Cloud 9. Wasn’t too stoked on this either because I have so much eyeshadow that I barely use so my sister was happy to take this off my hands. I was surprised at how nice these shadows are; they were so soft and the pigmentation seemed great on my hand but then again, I didn’t actually try them on the eyes. This picture doesn’t really do them justice and is washing them out big time.
I also received an Alterna shine mist for the hair. Again, haven’t used this but it REEKS of alcohol which makes me reluctant to put it on my already dry strands. The Heartland Blood Orange exfoliating loofah soap looks kind of cool. The loofah is actually in the soap so it should be an interesting thing to use.
I was super excited to see a foot lotion in here!!! I received the Alessandro Pedix Feet heel balm so I’ll definitley be putting that to the test once my other foot lotion runs out. And possibly my favorite product in this box is the Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie body lotion. This literally smells just like almond cookies; none of that artifical way-too-sweet scent. This is also a pretty decent size (4oz) and I can’t wait to start using this!!!
So that’s it. I won’t be re-subscribing for next month but it’s more of a money issue; Glossybox cost $21 (plus tax in NY & CA.) I wasn’t completely stoked and over the moon with all the stuff I got but I could see myself re-subscribing in the near future. Which subscription services do you guys recommend?
