Nails Lately

Excuse the object holding but the green shade is Sinful Color’s Seaweed and the glitter top coat is Sally Hansen’s Set the Stage. I haven’t worn these two together but I think they look really nice and I’ve gotten a tons of compliments on my manicure.

Hi, I’m alive.

I’ve been trying out some new products (to me, at least) and I’ve really fallen in love with a handful of them.

The Tree Hut Shea Extra-Rich lotion in Coconut Lime smells SO good. I really enjoy coconut scents for this part of the year and the fragrance in this is accurate without being overbearing. The formula is a bit thicker than a regular lotion but it distributes nicely over the skin and blends right in, which is something I look for because I don’t want to feel oily or greasy after applying a moisturizer. Also this brand has the best smelling products- their almond scented stuff smells great.

The CVS Pharmacy Deep Action Cleansing Wipes are perfect for those nights where you just don’t feel like doing your entire facial cleansing routine. I use these to remove my eye and face makeup while also getting off any excess dirt and oil that’s been chilling on my skin for the entire day. In addition to the huge convenience aspect of these, they also make my face feel super smooth after using them because they provide a light exfoliation. My skin has been looking pretty great lately and I think I owe it to these wipes.

The Heel Genius Foot Cream by Soap and Glory is the answer to all my rough foot woes. I apply this all over my feet after every shower and then put socks on and it leaves them feel so insanely smooth and soft. On another pedicure note- I exfoliate my feet with a callus shaver (yum!) and pumice stone about once a week to keep everything maintained.

I was pleasantly surprised by the ELF Eyelid Primer seeing as it’s only a dollar. I’ve been using it for several months now and I’m extremely impressed with the staying power. I’ll wear eyeshadow for 10+ hours, come home and look to see that it’s still intact with no creasing. It doesn’t keep my eye makeup looking perfect at the end of the day like my UDPP did, but it’s nothing I can’t tolerate for A DOLLAR. A DOLLAR. Compared to like $20 for UDPP. Side note- I haven’t tested this in humid weather yet but I hope it withstands it because that was the one thing Urban Decay’s couldn’t do.

Last but not least, MAC’s Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick has been permanently on my lips for the last 2 months.

It’s a lustre formula so I can throw it on without any sort of lip balm and not have to worry about it drying out my lips. When it does eventually wear off a bit, it leaves a nice cherry red stain and doesn’t look flakey. It’s the ideal lip product for me because it’s not high maintenance and like I said, I can just apply it without any sort of balm or lip liner.

Dream Team: Mario Badescu's Orange Cleansing Soap & Seaweed Cleansing Lotion

I recently finished these two products up and I really like how soothing they were to my skin. The Cleansing Soap is just the product I’ve been looking for: a cream cleanser that is gentle enough so my face doesn’t get dried out after using it but effective enough so my skin feels clean. It has a very light scent to it and left my skin feeling smooth and soft without any irritation.

The Cleansing Lotion is really just a toner. I used this after cleansing and I looooove the scent of this. It’s also faint and doesn’t linger around after applying it and it just smells clean to me. I honestly don’t think this did much for my skin except picking up any excess dirt/oil/etc the cleanser didn’t get but I still enjoyed how refreshing it is to apply, espescially after a long day running around the polluted city.

These two product together are ideal for my skin type. I have normal skin meaning I’m not overly oily in one area or dry in another. I don’t have sensitive skin but I like to use products that are gentle and will keep my face clean but without removing all the moisture from it. I might have to pick these two up at my local Ulta because I’m missing them already :(

Happy Easter if you celebrate! This is another product I’m surprised I never hear about because it’s the perfect cream fuschia polish. It’s a nice break from the neutral polishes I tend to gravitate towards and because it’s a cool-toned pink, it doesn’t look odd against my skin. The consistency is thin but not watery; I do two layers and get an opaque shade and no chipping for a few days.

Congrats!!! I like going to school there but I won’t be much help in the dorming question because I commute. All I can really tell you is that it’s definitely not a “traditional college experience” but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you’re looking for something different. Sorry I’m not much of a help!

i got those for my birthday gift like a month ago and they have being in my purse and have survived the heat here but I don’t think they’re good, the flavors are kinda crappy but they look good, i would buy others like nivea or regular chapsticks

Yeah I’m honestly not even sure why it melted since it’s only just getting warm here (warm being mid-forties) but I completely agree about the Nivea balms. Much better pigmentation for way less money.

So happy I tried these before I shelled out $22.50 for ONE of them.

I received this set for free in a Sephora birthday gift (if you’re interested, all you need to do is sign up for a Beauty Insider card- it’s free!) and I really just think they’re just…all right.

For the price, I was expecting something life changing and was not at all happy to see the Brown Sugar flavor turn into a goopy mess in my bag (in the middle of winter too!) I must have looked like a hot mess trying to apply it from the tube with my fingers.

I can’t tell if these smell like brown sugar and lemon or just like a kitchen cleaner. I think it’s one of those scents where you either love it or hate it, especially since it’s going on your lips and you’re forced to smell it.

The consistency is thick but they do apply nicely and last a while so you don’t have to constantly reapply. The rose flavor gives a very sheer tint to your lips, as seen here:

I really like the way it looks against my skin tone but once again, the quality and price are not enough for me to buy the full sized. The entire range of colors contains SPF 15 though, which is always nice to have in a lip product since your they’re just as susceptible to sun damage as any other part of your skin is.

I would suggest leaving the Brown Sugar one on your nightstand as a night time balm instead of having to suffer with a melted one like me (some serious first world problems, obviously). I can’t speak for the Rose one though just because I have yet to put it in my purse.

weird question but where did you get the container in your perfume post? i have a ton of rollerballs/mini perfumes and it fits them nicely.

Yes! You can actually ask for a sample of most products there and they’ll prepare a little jar (or in perfume’s case, a spritzer) for you.

Smells Like Spring

While the weather has been less than spring-like lately (it’s currently raining pellets of ice outside), I wanted to share the fragrances I’ll be using this season.

The Chloe eau de Parfum by Chloe reminds me of the feeling and scent of stepping out of a really refreshing shower. The notes that stick out to me when smelling this are the lychee and rose and they are seriously flawless when combined. The rose is obviously floral but the lychee gives the scent a bit of warmth while also adding an aspect that’s the tiniest bit fruity. All notes are here. Also on a sidenote- if you’ve never eaten a lychee nut, I highly recommend it. They are delicious.

I’ve been wearing Daisy eau so Fresh by Marc Jacobs so much recently. I don’t like the way the original Daisy smells on me, so this was a perfect alternative. Like the name suggests, it’s a bit of a lighter scent but still has the original notes of grapefruit, musk, and violet in addition to raspberry and pear (which I can really smell on me when I wear this). I’d love to bathe in this stuff but I think that’d be a little weird. The notes can be found here.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard more about MAC’s Turquatic fragrance. I know the ocean would never smell this good but it really does remind me of being on the beach or on vacation. It’s fresh and has notes of lotus and blue cedar. It also doesn’t hurt that the packaging is gorgeous. All notes are listed here.

I apologize for all the nail polish posts lately but I’ve been painting my nails way more than usual and honestly, these are just super easy to put up. I was on the fence about purchasing this shade because it’s pretty similar to OPI’s Glitzerland (seen on the left in that post) just with a bit more of a blush tint to it.

After I applied it, I knew it was completely worth it because it’s beautiful; it’s like liquid rose gold on your nails. The formula is thin and I did notice some tip wear after only two days or so but I usually find that’s the case with shimmer-based polishes like this. I think I got this for $7.50 at Sally’s but their polish brands usually go on sale from week to week so I’d wait until then.

hey!! I read your post about the Zoya polish and I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend china glaze smoke & ashes. it's seriously opaque in one coat. truly a dream come true.

girl don’t buy polish from Ulta! So overpriced! Most malls have some sort of beauty supply store or salon that will have OPI & Essie for cheap. I get OPIs for $2.50 at a salon in my local mall.

This was one of the first polishes I got when really started getting into them and I still love it. It’s a murky purple color and like with most OPI polishes, it applies extremely well and lasts about a week for me. I wish Ulta hadn’t increased the price of the brand to NINE DOLLARS A BOTTLE so I could buy more.
